Making the Right Swing That Leads to Success

If you think that the game of golf is just about having to swing your clubs and propelling the ball in the air as hard as you can then you are gravely mistaken. There is a science or technique behind every swing which all golfers, especially those who are new to the sport need to know of. So here is a lowdown on how to swing your golf clubs properly.

Swinging your golf clubs the correct way is crucial as it could determine your success in the golf course. Swinging your club involves a great deal of angular motion and physics such as twisting your swing in order to generate the needed torque on your club which will in turn change the angular velocity of your club which will tantamount to the rotation of the ball. With club heads normally weighing the same, the key to hitting the long ball is really found in the velocity of the club head. In other words, the faster the rate of your golf club coming from the bottom of your swing, the more energy will be produced.

Generally, the professional golfers try to achieve an average speed of 100mph at the bottom of their golf swing, but as we all know, there are special players like the great Tiger Woods who can surpass such speed as he is able to hit up to as much as 125mph. Based on a study by Theodore Joresen on the physics behind the sport of golf, people usually have the tendency to snap their wrists at the bottom of the swing on order to create much force and hit the ball harder. But what they don't know is that the head of the club is just slowed down because of it.

Now you may be thinking how can Mr. Woods, at 6-foot-1 and with a body that weighs 158lbs be able to perform one of the longest drives in golf? Conserving and channeling all his energy towards his swing is his key and he does this by using a textbook and calculated technique. Let us delve into the elements of his golf shot.

By using some of his flexibility, Mr. Woods is able to reach far back in order to extend his range, all of this is done while keeping in step with his torso that rotates over his right leg.
As soon as he begins the swinging motion, a quick turn of his torso and a forward press from his right leg creates velocity on his club head. By maintaining his position above the ball, he is only able to waste a little amount of his energy during the course of his swing.
He then drives to the ball as he concentrates his force which then results into a fast ball speed that is about 20mph faster than what the average pro golfer can perform. All of this can be attributed to his superb utilization of his hips, shoulders and wrists.
And finally, he makes sure that he gets a smooth follow-through by letting the momentum of the club head extend all the way behind his back.
